Cyprus government intends to lower VAT for all home renovations from 19% to 5%
During a speach at the Annual General Assembly of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in Nicosia, President Nicos Anastasiades said that the proposal is expected to be adopted during the next Cabinet meeting.

According to In Cyprus, the lower VAT will apply in renovations of all dwelling units, and not just in the case of primary residence.

The President explained that vulnerable consumer groups and residents of remote communities will also benefit from lower VAT when repairing their homes to upgrade their structural adequacy or to improve their energy efficiency.

Local Architecture Students Visit Zaha Hadid’s Eleftheria Square

Students of the Architecture Department of Neapolis University recently visited the project site of Eleftheria Square in Nicosia, a development currently under construction, designed by renowned British-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid.

Indeed, on Friday, October 30, students of the Department of Architecture, Land and Environmental Sciences, 5th year students of the Bachelor in Architecture and 2nd year students of the Master of Landscape Architecture had the opportunity to evaluate the project site and converse with principals from the construction company Lois Builders.

The representatives presented the design concept of the project and walked students through the construction methodology developed to effectively realize this.

Moreover, presentations were given by George Sarmaniotis, Architect-Landscape Architect, Dr. Iordanis Chitiroglou and Nicolas Lois, Board Member of the Construction Company.

The students were escorted by Dr. Julia Georgi, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Architecture, Land and Environmental sciences of Neapolis University.
